and wellness The Boryeong Mud Festival, one of three
major Asian festivals, to be held concurrently
The first international seas exhibition on
the western coast of Korea will be held in Boryeong, Chungnam. The Boryeong Mud
Festival, a global festival, will combine with experiential programs and exhibitions
to allow visitors to see the present and future of new ocean mud industries at
a mammoth festival.
The 2022 Boryeong Sea Mud Exhibition, co-hosted
by Chungcheongnam-do and Boryeong-si, will be held near the Daecheon coast of
Boryeong-si from July 16 to August 15, 2022. Under the theme of “Rediscovery of
Oceans, and the Future Value of Muds,” this exhibition aims to explore the new
ocean mud industry, assess the value of muds, and introduce information about
the development of the mud industry to visitors and industry representatives.
The exhibition will have six thematic
halls, including the Marine Mud Hall and a K-culture Hall. The thematic halls
will display new aspects of the mud industry using digital media technology to
increase the competitiveness of the industry.
The Marine Mud & New Industry Hall
will introduce new ocean industries to re-discover oceans as sources of future
resources and new materials through the participation of global businesses. The
Marine Mud Wellness Hall, the Marine Mud Experience Hall, and the Atopy Hall will
allow visitors to enjoy spas tailored to human body parts and participate in
marine cure experience programs.
At the Marine Mud Hall, visitors will
realize the competitiveness and future value of the mud industry, creating a
sense of immersion using realistic media content and VR. The Marine Mud
Experience Hall will enable students to have an opportunity to increase their
interest in marine industries through experiential programs and to learn about
ocean-related jobs. At the undersea virtual space installed in the Marine Mud
Performance Hall, one can watch MR-based holograms. The K-culture Hall will
display local content such as culture, arts, and tourism resources of 15 cities
and counties of Chungcheongnam-do.
Furthermore, the Boryeong Mud Festival,
one of three major festivals in Asia, which draws interest from around the
world each year, will take place concurrently with the exhibition.
Chungcheongnam-do and Boryeong-si intend
to use the momentum from this exhibition to grow the mud industry and the ocean
healing industry. Moreover, for the sustainable development of new marine
industries, international forums will be hosted to draw a blueprint for the
development of related industries by inviting professionals and businesses from
home and abroad.
One or two minutes from the exhibition
site, the Boryeong Undersea Tunnel is the most iconic tourist attraction and
one of the major contributors to tourism on the west coast during the summer. The
tunnel that transformed the landscape of the western sea runs 6.9 km from
Dacheon Port to Wonsando Island. In ten minutes, visitors can reach from
Daecheon Port to Wonsando Island and Yeongmok Port, the southernmost tip of
Anmyeondo Island in Taean.
